Adult and Adolescent Speech Therapy Services
At Rehabilitation Associates, Inc., our Speech-Language Pathology department provides individualized, evidence based evaluation and treatment for people with communication, cognitive, voice, and swallowing difficulties. Our experienced speech-language pathologists work collaboratively with patients and families to improve communication, independence, and quality of life.
Our team has experience working with individuals with conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, dementia, head and neck cancer, voice disturbance, post concussion syndrome, difficulty swallowing, and many other neurological or medically-based diagnoses.
Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy supports individuals experiencing difficulty producing speech sounds, communicating clearly, or understanding and expressing language.
Treatment areas include:
- Speech intelligibility and articulation
- Fluency disorders, including stuttering and cluttering
- Oral-motor weakness or dysfunction
- Receptive and expressive language
- Aphasia and apraxia following stroke
- Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

Cognitive-Communication Therapy
Cognitive-communication therapy focuses on improving the thinking and communication skills needed for daily life, work, school, and social interactions. Treatment is individualized to help people regain independence and function after illness, injury, or neurological changes.

- Memory and recall
- Attention and concentration
- Problem solving and reasoning
- Organization and executive functioning
- Word finding and expressive language
- Auditory comprehension and processing
- Reading and writing skills
- Social communication and conversational skills
Our clinicians frequently work with individuals recovering from stroke, concussion, traumatic brain injury, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions.
Voice Therapy
Voice therapy helps individuals improve vocal quality, volume and projection, reduce strain or discomfort, and restore healthy voice function. Our speech-language pathologists provide specialized treatment for a variety of voice and upper airway disorders.
Voice therapy may address:
- Hoarseness or vocal fatigue
- Dysphonia
- Vocal nodules or polyps
- Vocal cord paralysis
- Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction (Vocal Cord Dysfuntion)
- Chronic cough
- Resonance disorders
- Changes in voice following illness, reflux, surgery, or cancer treatment
- Laryngectomy rehabilitation
- Professional voice use and vocal hygeine
Treatment focuses on improving vocal efficiency, breath support, respiratory muscle strength training (RMT), resonance, and overall vocal health to support effective communication in everyday life.
Swallowing Therapy
Our clinicians also evaluate and treat swallowing disorders (dysphagia) related to neurological conditions, surgery, cancer treatment, or other medical diagnoses.
Swallowing therapy may include:
- Comprehensive swallowing evaluations
- Safe swallowing strategies
- Laryngeal/pharyngeal strengthening exercise program
- Respiratory muscle strengthening and coordination
- Diet and texture recommendations
- Caregiver and family education
